    In the drink I had my spirit
    Now I know, the demon’s near it
    If I ever have a drink again …
    I can’t imagine a greater sin.

    So many friends I’ve come to know
    I ache to let my feelings show
    I once had booze to make me free
    It was false … It’s plain to see
    I’ve put the bottle on the shelf
    I pray to you (God) to find myself.

    Thank you God for all I’ve learned
    You’ve given me twice … what I’ve earned
    When again You let me love
    I’ll know it came from up above
    Until that day, I‘ll sit in shame
    Knowing fully, It’s me to blame.
