Daily Meds

Ask and you shall receive
Of this saying I do believe
Ask for silver ask for gold
But you know you’ll still get old
When the time comes to meet your maker
Was I a giver or was I a taker
If you pray to do His will
I think you’ll find you get your fill.

In the drink I had my spirit
Now I know, the demon’s near it
If I ever have a drink again …
I can’t imagine a greater sin.

So many friends I’ve come to know
I ache to let my feelings show
I once had booze to make me free
It was false … It’s plain to see
I’ve put the bottle on the shelf
I pray to you (God) to find myself.
