    I Bow To God

I used to have a saying. “If you’ve
never hit your knees, then you’ve never had
    a bad day.”

Now I have many good days. Now I hit
my knees even on a good day. I hit my
knees and thank You, Master for a good day.

There is nothing shameful to me about
hitting my knees, asking for help, or being
    grateful.

“He who endures to the end, the same shall be saved.” My dad has endured. 87 years old. To be sure, not our whole lives have to be “endured.” Some of our years – even most are probably happy and healthy. It’s when we “hit bottom” or come to the end – we must endure. The Master gives us everyone and everything we need to make this possible.

They thought my earthly father was going to die the other night, so my siblings and I (and even lone on the phone) gathered around him. the hardest part was to watch mom give him a kiss.

Three priests came that night. They gave dad his last rites. It was soothing to know dad is on the “highway to heaven now.” He’s ready for the “final frontier.” The destination. The hospice nurses are like angels, keeping him comfortable in his last days. I whispered into his ear, yesterday, “I wouldn’t have wanted any other man to be my dad, pappa.” Thank-You Lord, you care for us right to the end.

    “Me And My Bottle”

Well, Jack it’s just you and me
Guess that girl ain’t ever gonna see
She been gone now, May, June, July
I’ll give her another month, but I don’t know why
Guess I’m just that good kinda guy.
You know, Jack, you’re some kinda friend
You’ll always be with me, yeah, right to the end.
